The Norwegian Army, WWII 1940
- Lieutenant -

The Norwegian Army was not prepared
for war when Germany attacked
in 1940. The soldiers had little training,
and there was no real NCO corps.
After attending a NCO school the men
served as Sergeants for one year only.
Most were then transfered to the
reserves as Lieutenants. The Toy Soldier
shown here wears the grey-green great
coat with red pipings, tall boots and
an officers kepi. He is armed with the
"Kongsberg Colt", which was an
norwegian version of the M-1911 Colt
produced by Kongsberg Vaapenfabrik.
