- German Gebirgsjägers -
Battle of Narvik, Norway 1940

With the invasion of Norway, the
3rd Gebirgsjäger Regiment supplied
 portions of its Division, including
parts of its 139th Gebirgsjäger
Regiment, for the assault on the
Northern coast of Norway.
The 139th Regiment was heavily engaged in operation holding Narvik
from the Allies until it was nearly
destroyed, only to be saved by the
collapse of the Allies in Norway and
the surrender of the Norwegian
 Government.
