Hans Christian Heg

Hans Christian Heg was born
in Lier, in the Kingdom of Norway,
and immigrated to America in
1840. Heg was appointed Colonel
in the Union Army in 1861, and led
the15th Wisconsin - the Scandinavian
 Regiment into several successful
battles in the American Civil War.
He was killed in the Battle of
Chickamauga, Georgia - the second bloodiest battle of the Civil War.
This Toy Soldier is based on the statue
of Col. Heg in Wisconsin today.
