General
Carl Gustav Fleischer

The legendary Norwegian general
Fleischer is associated with the battles
of the Narvik campaign in Norway
1940 during which a historic defeat
was inflicted on the German forces.
The retaking of the city in May 1940
was of great moral significance,
the first victory of the Allies over an
advancing and apparently invincible
German army in the course of the
Second World War. Fleischer is
Norway's only general in modern
times to have led his troops to victory
in his own country.
