Ski trooper #2 of the Danish-Norwegian Ski Batallions 1807 - 1814 -
- Elverumske Skieløber Compagnie -
The men of the Norwegian ski batallions in the Great War of 1807 - 1814 were trained and
organized as light-infantry soldiers. Troops were mainly employed on reconaissance and patrol duties. With the coming of the winter snows, however, ski-trained troops acquired great
mobility and could, in some respects, function as light cavalry.
