- The Norwegian Army -
Invasion of Norway 1940

In february 1940, the German General
Nikolaus von Falkenhorst was given
the important task to plan the invasion
of Norway. The attack caused much
confusion among the Norwegian
defenders, and their resistance was
halted by the Norwegian Government
who misunderstood the situation.
The Norwegian Army was probably
mobilized with 55.000 men during
Germany's "Operation Weserubüng".
Both Army and Navy were mostly
equipped with obsolete weapons
and equipment. The Army fought
the German invaders for two months
until Norway finally surrendered.
